Powerbook equivalent of this forum?

#1 Post by Bookworm » Thu Feb 12, 2009 11:59 pm

No offence intended, but is there a site like forum.thinkpads.com for Mac Powerbooks, including the marketplace and "legacy" forums?

Probably. I've found several forums, but none have a "for sale" or "old powerbook" section, or claim to be run by Apple.

Why are powerbooks so expensive? On eBay, even shattered bits and peices cost more than a working ThinkPad, and the 100 series (comparable to the PS/2 LxxSX series) are over $100.00 working!

You do realize that Lenovo doesn't run this forum, don't you?

This...? http://discussions.apple.com/index.jspa

I don't think they got a "for sale" section through.

I guess that's because of supply and demand...? : )

And highlights one of the beauties of ThinkPads.

And ThinkPads are cheap?... Try to buy one in Germany. It wasn´t long time ago when Macbooks and ThinkPads had the same price for similar configurations here... (and they probably still do...) :)

EDIT: Ok, well, that doesn´t refer to second hand units.

I saw a 12" Powerbook G4 for sale online for ~$60 once, online, but I'm guessing it was a scam.
Yes, cheapness of old thinkpads compared to other old laptops is one of the conundrums of the internet. I don't really understand it. Thinkpads usually last longer, too! (or so they claim)
