I thought the 4:3 models were only Euro models. That one is coming from Texas!
Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.
The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

DOS Licence? Ahaha... Wow! Now I know what the 4:3 screen was used for now.

Re: Official eBay Bidding and Buying Thread
It's likely, BUT...
- the screen looks rather dark
- the laptop was made in 08/04 (2008/April), when they still had bad GPUs on the nVidia mobo
- BIOS cannot tell you the LCD's resolution
- if a previous owner swapped the LCD for XGA, you are "schtuffed"
- there is no chance to return it for "not as described"
- proceed at your own risk
EDIT: the post this refers to was deleted, no idea what this was all about...

Need to hear about your experiences with http://www.komputerbay.com, please ? I want to buy 2 pieces of 512mb pc133 sdram for my legendary T23 and komputerbay.com website seems to be the only website that i can order using credit card. They don'T have SSL for their website, http instead of https.

Re: Official eBay Bidding and Buying Thread
https://www.komputerbay.com/ works fine for me; Firefox is happy with the certificate; otherwise no idea about them. I'd at least use a credit not debit card.. or best paypal if they take it..
How expensive can that RAM be? If they are the only place to offer it then why not take a punt? There are other places though - say facebook marketplace is full of weird low-spec RAM nobody wants for a couple $$. It is possible to register on TaoBao (weirdly you can't search on TaoBao w/o registering); one got to install TaoBao app to chat with sellers though; they got a bad habit of advertising goods that are not in stock.. and all communication is via translate.google.com; (if you do find something and seller confirms they have it in stock then it's some agent like superbuy.com to actually place the order via; in my experience you loose around 15% on exchange rates but c'est la vie + you pay shipping; you declare customs price yourself and it's independent of insurance which superbuy offers regardless); aliexpress obviously for searching/talking in English (then also a month for delivery) ..

Re: Official eBay Bidding and Buying Thread
İt is only 10$ for brand new 512mb pc133 ram over there and they ship internationally for free. Why hassle in facebooks, taobaos. if anyone here with good experience of komputerbay.com, i will buy from them.

Re: Official eBay Bidding and Buying Thread
Well, i "bought" the rams according to my credit card. However their website occured AVS error and i couldn't place the order eventhough my cc has been charged. It had been 4 days and i emailed them like 5 times, didn't get a reply back. Asked a friend of mine in usa to give them a call, they don't answer. I believe, i have been scammed. Asked my bank to cancel the payment and refund... what a waste of time.

18 Stück X230t in various stages of decay
with BIOS passwords, without RAM/HDD/etc
auction runs out on Monday, delivery to EU
link on ebay.de
I'd actually want just one, just the bottom half and I'm not 100% confident I can nuke the BIOS password
My ideal outcome is somebody buys the lot and re-sells one to me possibly without screen/keyboard/palmrest
P.S. okay, I could buy a 2nd one if cheap.. but I certainly don't have time to be re-selling the whole batch..
P.P.S. if you do go for it perhaps post a note here.. I do feel some temptation to go for it myself unless somebody else here does

Looks like they snuck in a few X220t as well (or KB-modded machines).

Is this a good deal? It looks like it's seller refurbished due to cosmetic damage, but that looks like a burn on the back and I'm worried the damage may be more significant

You mean the "scorpion" on the lid?
That's more likely some (Stop Theft?) sticker residue.
It will require a new lid if you don't like it.
