I've been itching to upgrade my wireless network to n for awhile now.
In the coming weeks my computer number is jumping from one thinkpad to two thinkpads and a powerbook. I also have friends who I'd like to give access to my media files. I'm looking for a fast router with usb so I can mount my external hard drive on the network.
Ideally, I'd like two usb slots as I have more than one drive. If the router only has one usb slot is it possible to put a hub on it to add more than one drive?
I've been looking at the D-Link Xtreme N but the high price (+$120) and poor speed reviews make me wonder if there is a better option.
What are you guys using?
I've thought getting a separate NAS enclosure and a less expensive router, too.
I'd love to hear about your home or home/office wireless setups.
Thanks,

Re: wireless n router w/ usb storage
I'm using a Linksys 350N running DD-WRT firmware. It's not exactly the quickest router wirelessly, but it's quick enough to stream Hulu and Netflix to a bridged Linksys 54g in the other room while handling other tasks. The one USB port may not be what you're looking for. Though, I *think* you can plug in a hub, at least if running DD-WRT. I use the port to plug in my printer for network printing instead of storage which is very convenient for me.
I think if I were to buy another router, I'd build my own and use the aforementioned firmware. It'd be a nice little project and give me upgrade options for the future.
Just my $.02

Re: wireless n router w/ usb storage
That DD-WRT looks pretty neat. I'm going to try it on my WRT54G and see if I can't breath some new life into it. I think I'll try NAS, too, rather than a media style router. Thanks again. This third party firmware will be a fun side project.
