Increasing the number of posts per page

#1 Post by rhobite » Sun Feb 06, 2005 3:45 pm

I'm new here so I'm sorry about hopping in and making suggestions. My question is, is there any way to increase the # of posts displayed on each page? Currently it's 15 and it makes it hard to skim big threads, you have to hit "next" constantly. Usually I like this about 50-100 if I'm on a forum which allows me to select this value. Anyway it's just a small suggestion and if it'll cause server issues or problems for people w/ dialup, don't worry about it.

Email Bill and see if he can enable a feature on the board that allows each user to choose how many posts they want to veiw per page.

I know exactly what you mean... at AnandTech I have my account set to 50 posts/page, but then again I'm lucky enough to have broadband :D

I second that suggestion! I have it as at least 40 posts / page on other forums.

While we are on it, why do we have a timer limit on post edit after a new post has been created? I have to wait for a whole minute before I can fix typos and stuff on the post I just submitted.

Yes I should double check for grammar and spellings before I post but still the limit doesn't seem to make a lot of sense.

It's intended to thwart malicious people who might unleash a program that floods the forum with posts.

I ageee that 1 minute is too long. Often one can respond to a second thread in less than 1 minute. Worse, if you see a typo that you've just made, waiting 60 seconds can seem like an eternity. 10 seconds ought to be more than enough.
