GPU Medics vs Superior Reball PROBLEMS

#1 Post by macmasher » Sun Nov 08, 2009 8:24 am

Hi folks, I joined this forum not because I have Thinkpad - I don't, I do however have an ibook G4 with a dodgy logic board. I, and it would seem many on this site, sent my logic board for repair to Superior Reball and Rework aka GPU Medics back in August this year. About a month later I had an email from Dale:

Hello Paul,

Your logic board has been completed. The logic board works great!! What method would you like to use for payment? We accept Paypal and credit cards. I can send an Invoice/money request using Paypal if you wish. If so is your Paypal email also xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx? You can also send the payment directly to us thru Paypal. Our paypal address is customerservice@superiorreball.com . The charge is $35.00 + $25.00 international return shipping = $60.00 even. Thanks for the business!! We appreciate it very much!!

Dale

I used the Paypal method and paid by return - that was in August and despite several emails and phone calls I haven't heard a thing since. My question; has anyone had recent dealings with this company? Am I a correct in assuming that GPU Medics was once 'Superior Reball and Rework'?

Any information would be gratefully received.

Welcome to the forum!

Your assumption is correct, it's the same outfit. More on the good and bad here:

Thanks ajkula66,

Just emailed both companies again and mentioned to Dale that I would post all responses on this site - let's see what happens?

Having heard nothing from Superior Reball for months within an hour of placing this post and sending an email to Dale I had not only a reply but also a paypal notification that my board had been shipped back fully repaired. \see attached email from Dale with an explanation for the delay:

Hello Paul,

Upon receiving this email from you I immediately checked the Paypal payment history for the month of August. You did pay the Invoice we sent you back in august just as you had stated in this email. We use the print shipping option thru paypal once an invoice has been paid. I also noticed that a shipping label had not been created for your logic board using paypal. I then looked around the shop and found your board. The board has now been shipped. Here is the tracking info. I apologize for the screw up on are part!!!

Dale

I'll post again when I receive the board and test it out - but good news so far.

too bad you did not use the guy who advertises in the banner, above..
hes in the UK and he is good..
IF you get your logic board back from the guy here in the USA and it works consider yourself lucky..
if you do not get it back or it does not work when you DO get it back, file a complaint through paypal pointing out that they took until now to return it and get a refund..
then use the local, to you, people..

thanks Bill, in fact I've now been waiting longer for my board than the guy in this country has been trading or at least since he has become reasonably well known! I've read with interest his posts and he seems to be turning out some really good work.

I'll let you know how the board performs when I (finally) get it back - maybe an early Xmas present?

Just had the board back - waiting for some thermal pads to be delivered before I can fit and test it. On that note has anyone tried replacing the thermal pads - three on my G4 with a thermal paste? I usually use Arctic Silver 5. :?:
