This is not my "type" of music, but Im impressed. They do a couple acapella, which is almost impossible with sopranos and altos.

They have been on PBS for years, UNC-TV. Check out Charlotte Church on youtube, she's older now but is still amazing.

Just being Irish does not necessarily mean I am into this type of music!goofyGAguy wrote:Very impressive. That looks like something RealBlackStuff would be into.
As a matter of fact I am not.
I prefer the the more traditional, raucous songs from groups like the Wolfe Tones, Dubliners, Chieftains, Pogues.

Ah yes, the classics. Don't forget The Undertones and Stiff Little Fingers.

He, he. Nice to hear. My wife is also of Irish descent (Tierney) and the groups you mention is the music she introduced me to when I got to know her. We even had great fun listening to Irish Rebel Songs, even they might not be commonly "accepted" everywhere.RealBlackStuff wrote: I prefer the the more traditional, raucous songs from groups like the Wolfe Tones, Dubliners, Chieftains, Pogues.
So no big wonder that we chose to celebrate our honeymoon in Dublin, visiting the Guinness brewery and enjoying a live music night at Johnnie Fox's pub.
Are you born in Ireland, or how far back do your Irish roots go?

I was born outside of Ireland but the family (O'Farrell) goes back to the Kings of Meath.

Chloe Agnew is not my favorite but at about 15, when she sang this, can you say "prodigy"?

Celtic women ... they are the bees knees, except they'd probably spell it as "fllynd shlnb" or something else without a vowel.
Give them a Rugby player and they'll play all night, but that's maybe Gavin Henson's problem ... he's spent too long in Church, as it were.
