I think this ThinkPad may be slightly beyond repair...

Is anyone able to identify this TP? My guess is an R series looking at the way those lights are arranged.
But I saw the site this was on and they guy who wrote it said that he tried to get the ThinkPad to work (had 1-3-3-1 beep errors) and he then goes onto say that before it broke, it worked pretty well and now becuase he's hit it with a hammer (I assume!) it obviously won't ever work again and he now needs to buy a new laptop which "kind of sucks". I assume he got impatient whilist trying to fix it?

No Idea why people do things like this

. I always use/reuse old technology, and I hate to damage/break/git rid of working equipment. I threw up on a laptop, washed it off, let it dry and kept using it. That is a nice computer, better than anything I have, completely ruined.

That guy smashed a machine to pieces that most likely could have been fixed by replacing (or reseating) the RAM. Idiot is the correct term at least.

Why on EARTH did he (or she?) destory an X60T - I love those, especially with the cool "swivel" screen and touch screen!
I see why it wasn't an R Series like I guessed, screen is not the R Series screen.

Yes - same here, my A31 was almost just thrown in the bin - it was written off due to USB's not working (which is true) and wear (which is also true, missing left arrow key, for instance), but other than that - completely solid. It even booted up fine when I got it home...first time - so wasn't even "non working" when it was considered written off (though a Windows re install was required as it had McAffee and I couldn;t remove it).

The previous owner's loss is my gain though as I've had a lot of fun and have learnt a lot that I wouldn't have learnt otherwise doing it up and repairing it. I've got a 1GB RAM module coming through the post for the A31 as we speak!
