Snow!

#1 Post by AllTPedOut » Sat Feb 06, 2010 10:20 am

I hope all of our forum friends in the Mid-Atlantic states are okay given the huge amount of snowfall they're getting!

It's a beautiful scene until you have to shovel yourself out

Be safe and take your time!

What Unknow_K said. Only down here it was "only" 8-10 inches. And the forcast is for more starting Monday! There is still remnants of the snow that fell Friday, Jan. 29th on the ground today.

And my back is still sore from shoveling a week ago. Haven't had to use those muscles in a loooong time.

Really!? Here in Hershey we got 18 inches... took me 1.5 hours to dig my car out this afternoon... those blokes clearing out the parking lots decided to push everything behind my car.

It was kind of funny Friday because all the snow from the last storm was gone. I was running around all day checking out thrift stores and recyclers for old machines and parts for my collection (should have got some junk food too), and the snow just started when I pulled into the drive.

Think we are getting nailed again early next week, hopefully they can get the streets cleaned so I can hit the stores for supplies before the next blizzard.

You need a decent amount of snow for the post office to not deliver mail (they skipped Saturday delivery), and from what I hear the interstate highways (1st to get cleaned) are still a mess. All I did was make a path to the front porch and to the garage (so I can put the trash out). Since my side street is not going to cleaned soon there is no point of shoveling all the snow, plus when you get a foot or more its hard to find a place to dump it (neighbor has a fence on their side of my driveway).

Oh well, it will be over in a few months and forgotten.

Funny to see people whinning about snow and shoveling... here in Quebec we got almost 5 meters of snow during the 2007-2008 winter  Needless to say we all have pretty good back muscles 4 to 6 months a year

You must have a snow blower, DrThinkpad, because after years of shovelling snow and ice off the driveway of our chalet in the French Alps my back was knackered. Shovelling snow is OK when it is light and fluffy, but after a thaw and refreeze it is a nightmare.

To everyone affected by snow in USA and Canada ... you were all so warm-hearted towards us Europeans recently when we had tons of the stuff. I wish you well and hope that the terrible Connecticut Gas Power Plant disaster doesn't cause you to lose heating.

And just to show we do get snow down here, this is us heading up Arthur's Pass on the South Island last May - you'll notice there are a few tracks heading down on the other side of the road, but we're breaking ground and heading up
