I understand where you're coming from...here's my story that I'm sure you'll find laughable...
Old enough to have learned to type on old-time mechanical typewriters. Where I grew up we didn't get to see too many IBM Golfballs...

although Olivettis were quite common.
My first (and so far only) novel was written by hand and then typed...on a mechanical typewriter. At that time, most of the world was using PCs (think SX386 era), including majority of the people I was surrounded by...
Fast forward a few years, I'm trying to find a keyboard (as in PC keyboard) that I like and I can't. That's one of the things that got me into ThinkPads - the keyboard on my "work" T20. Not quite a typewriter, but a good enough feel.
I have an almost unused, dead mint, mid-90s model M that I got as a gift a few years back still sitting in my workroom wrapped, never ever plugged.
The only time I ever use a mouse is when I'm in the field with my CF-29 ToughBook which has a
horrible touchpad, unlike the other Panasonics. And that's an old (circa 2000) IBM mouse. In most cases, it's still the same T20 that still goes with me a decade later. The ToughBook stays locked unless I'm going into less-than-desirable neighbourhoods...
So you see, I ended up in the direct opposite direction from yours. But from that very angle, your "addiction" makes a lot of sense and is perfectly understandable.
As for myself, I still write most of my stuff by hand, then type. But now it's on a ThinkPad.
If and when I get to finally organizing myself enough to start working on my next book I might go back to the typewriter. Being perfectly serious here.
Enjoy your addiction. It's a good one.
