My wife and I have just spent a couple of nights in a wonderful place. It is unique as there is no traffic. You have to be fit enough to walk up and down the cobbled streets which take you 400 feet (over 100 meters) between arrival and the sea shore. It is the lovely, privately-owned, village of Clovelly in Devon.

At 1.52 USD to 1 GBP it is a bargain for Americans, confirmed by those we met staying there. For Euro tourists it is an even bigger bargain at 1.15 Eur to 1 GBP.

Don't miss it but come before, or after, July and August.

BTW, I am not associated in any way with the village. I just thought you ought to know about somewhere that is amazing, where you can hear the birds sing, and where there is no light pollution.

We stayed in the New Inn. Good hotel but a shambles on organisation ... perfect ... that is old fashioned hospitality. B*llocks to new style hotels. I love a shambles at times.
