Package/Mail forwarding from Germany?

#1 Post by Troels » Sat May 29, 2010 6:34 pm

Ok, I know this probably is not going to get many replies or anything, but i just don't know where to ask.

The situation is this: A seller in Germany has an item i'd really like to buy. No matter what i do, the seller does not want to ship outside Germany. What to do? It's not within driving distance at all (2k kilometers in total). Since it is for a gift for a family member, i need to have the goods relatively fast - addressgermany.com seems to do the job, but unfortunately they only ship packages every month, and this would take too long.

- Does anyone know of any alternatives? Is it possible to rent a postal box/PO box in Germany?

By the way: This is something as stupid as a pair of shoes, which can't be found elsewhere in the correct size, and it really seems to be a large wish. :)

Hi Troels,

Unfortunately, I don´t know whether it is possible to rent a post box here in Germany, but here are some ideas:

1) If you are close to the boarder, you could try to arrange the seller to send the pack to the closest DHL pack station where you would be able to pick it up.

2) Or you could ask some of our forum members here in Germany to get the packet for you and then resend it to you in Denmark. However, depending on the size of the packet, this would probably increase the transport costs slightly. I, personally, would be glad to do this for you :) PM me if you are interested.

Cheers,

Marin

Hi Marin,

I don't know anyone near the boarder, and i'm living 250-300 km away - otherwise an excellent suggestion i hadn't thought about. Thanks for the kind offer. I'll send you a PM if you still offer to do it - the shop is near Haag, so it would probably be delivered quickly to you. Extra transport costs are of course expected, and completely all right. :)

Kind regards from Troels
