I am relatively new to this board, but have been in the computer industry since I was very young, and have been on Forums since the days of the TRS-80 and BBS's. I have rarely seen a Forum of nicer people, who rarely (if ever) snipe at each other or get defensive. You are a great bunch. I am here daily, and have decided to stay because of all of you! I know others must feel the same! You should all be proud of yourselves!

I agree!
This is the most friendly forum I have found yet.
There is no reason to fear the flame here.
On some forums the members and even the mod's take great pleasure in flaming the newbies , but not here.
Thanks for having such a welcoming forum. :)

Hm you know...I've only been here for a few weeks, but now that you mention it, that is a really good point, and I hadn't thought of that until now. This is a really great forum.

The question is whether nice people use ThinkPads or using ThinkPads makes people nice... That might be interesting topic for PhD in psychology/sociology..(lol..)

"To ThinkPad or not to ThinkPad" ... ... :D

Maybe Bush should start sending T42p or X series Thinkpads to Iraq, it might qwell the unrest much faster!

Then they will not go around destroying power installations but will invest in wifi hotspots and start a nice forum like this as well. hehe

Yeah, would be great. Maybe Kerry will do it. Actually the GIs over there are still using Dells... Sad, very sad.

Not the Navy Seals.

They bought the first 500 ThinkPad T40p (2373G1U) models when they came out over a year ago. My lappie is number 501 and after me was a very, very larger order for the same model (over a thousand) for an insurance company (I want to say AllState)

Oh, thank God. Then we are safe. BTW, do the GIs have a Dell hotline number they can call? That number is surely busy all the time.

Yeah. It goes to the call center in India, er, I mean Elbonia.

Link to cartoon.

wow ... the GIs got the T40p? Cool!

hee, what's the typical call to tech support like ... ...

TS: "Hi, this is Carl here. How can I help you?"
G: "Hi, I have a crisis here. I'm being ambushed and can't get out."
(blast in the background)
TS: "Calm down ... "
G: "I need help *NOW* ... What should I do with my T40p? ... "
(BOOM)
TS: "Just press ... *static*"
G: "what? press what? *static* "
TS: " Jus* .... the *static*"
G: "Press the what?"
TS: "Press the BLUE BUTTON"
G presses blue button on T40p
(Next scene)
A squadron of Black Hawks swoops down on enemy bunkers. A load of T40ps are heli-dropped onto them. The enemies all start playing games.

GI is "recovered" from hotspot by BlackHawk. As the BlackHawk takes off, the camera zooms in on IBM logo on tail of BlackHawk.

Let me cut that one off at the bud. This page (without any images) is ~65k. The cartoon added 18k (before I replaced it with a link) and the ThinkPad at the top adds 7k.

So the images alone aren't what's slowing nonny down on this thread :)

Not the General Infantry. The Navy Seals received T40p models. Big difference...

You're right that the images aren't the only thing that makes this forum much slower than the previous incarnation, but there's no reason to make it even worse by posting them! ;-)

I think Gospodin Tkisason meant what does "IRT" mean.

IRT - In Regard To.

Croatian is one of the easiest languages, just like Hungarian. By the way, AFAIK James has been to Europe (especially in Germany) for a while. He is one of the explorer type Americans who had crossed the state border.
