Recycling pays off. :-)

Earlier this week I did some cleaning up in my moms house, and I found some old cans of paint that I decided to get rid of. Instead of throwing them in the garbage, like I have always done, I decided to be a repsonsible citizen and recycle them. So I brought them to work, to put them in our special waste container. While being inside the HazMat room working with this, I spotted a cardboard box with some electronical stuff in it. I decided to take a look, and wow..
One department at the dairy, I suspect the sales guys, had decided to throw away everything they didn't need. So I ended up finding 2 port replicators for T60s, one with the keys still in a little bag taped to the top of it. Nice, as I ordered a T60 earlier this week. For my T30 I found a docking station, the one with PCMICIA slots and an UltraBay, and I also found a port replicator, which I recognized as the one that came with my old work T30. Still in an IBM box dated June 2002, never used. I also found a little Thinkpad USB mouse, new in a plastic bag.

Apart from the IBM stuff, I found 3 brand new powered 4 port USB 2.0 hubs, 2 brand new Logitech multimedia keyboards, various PCMCIA adapters, power cables and other stuff. I even asked the guy in charge of the HazMat room to make sure this was really waste, and he confirmed that and said I could just grab all I wanted. So it all went into my car, and I realized that recycling the paint cans and visiting the HazMat room was smart move. One the other hand one can question the corporate spending and planning when you see brand new, never used stuff being dumped like this...
