Recommend repair service for Fujitsu Lifebook?

Greetings.

We have a dead Lifebook N5010 - 1400x1050 screen. System is functional, screen is blank, works on external monitor.
Our local repair bench is estimating $350 for replacing the screen - not that we've had it diagnosed.

Would anyone recommend a more cost-effective depot repair service?

DIY with an LCD bought on e.g. eBay or the likes.
'Only' costs you the price of the replacement LCD ($218.-).
