HDD Partitioning -- FAT - FAT32

#1 Post by FrankK-F » Wed Mar 16, 2005 12:16 am

I have forgotten if and how -- so here it goes.

Just got an HP iPAQ 2215 a few weeks ago -- for my wife. It has both SD and CF slots. I have several SD cards .. all work OK; the BT link with my A31p works fine so far.

Then I moved to GPS .. and just sent for a Delorme "Blue Logger" bluetooth unit (a great value I hope at about USD 150).

Now I am warming up to this PDA and look to buying a Hitachi 4GB Microdrive; their new 6GB unit is relased now but not yet available. (So I am casing this PDA technology for possible application for my customer contact list from ACT, for GPS maps, and other data -- in my pocket.)

I have been told by the HP tech support rep (India?) that the iPAQ OpSys (MS Pocket PC ver 4.20.0) can only see FAT not FAT32 formatted storage. I also remember that FAT is only good for up to 2GB.

So where do I go with this high capacity CF card purchase that will be here in a few days?

Can I partition at 2GB and format both sides for FAT? I have PM8 but it works only with fixed drives. I'll have a PC-Card adaptor for the CF card.

Any suggestion is welcome.
