Still Got The Blues...

#1 Post by ajkula66 » Tue Feb 08, 2011 11:36 pm

I don't know how many of my fellow ThinkPad buffs are big on British Blues of any era, but this past weekend we lost one of its last remaining icons...for those younger and less familiar with Mr. Moore's enormous legacy, may these tunes be but an appetizer...

Makes you wonder why people ever raved about Jimi Hendrix...

I'm not a great believer in torrent sites and illegal downloading but there is an exception which is dimeadozen.org where people post live concerts they've recorded. Many of the artists are more than happy with people doing this and there is a band opt-out on the site.

I've just checked the site and there's loads of Gary Moore including really old live stuff off cassette.

I'm not advocating torrent sites but feel Dime is responsible enough to the needs of the artists material.

Gary Moore is a sad loss. He was a brilliant performer.

In the UK, BBC Radio 2 has its Blues Programme every week on a Monday evening for an hour. It is hosted by Paul Jones who was the original singer with Manfred Mann in the 1960s. This evening it paid a wonderful tribute to Gary Moore.

If you have the ability to dupe the internet into thinking you are in the UK then you may be able to listen to it via the BBC iPlayer.

(The BBC's charter does not allow anyone outside the UK to receive broadcasts so that's why you need to dupe the internet.)
