AT&T buying T-Mobile?
AT&T buying T-Mobile?
http://newsroom.t-mobile.com/articles/m ... es-tmobile
Since my wife and I were planning to leave T-Mobile and go to At&T due to lack of coverage where we're moving, this is almost good news for us. I really didn't want to leave T-mo and seems now I won't have to... just not quite like I imagined.
I can see a lot of pros and cons. What are your feelings?

Re: AT&T buying T-Mobile?
As a tmobile customer, I don't foresee liking this. Tmobile has the best prepaid plans, which I'm on, with no daily access charges. I guess if they don't change anything I won't care.

Wow! Interesting!
I currently use both. Have the family on T-Mobile, but I am on AT&T.

i've got a tmo account for my personal service. includes a great unlimited blackberry data plan, grandfathered in for years. if att doesn't change anything, it'll be fine. otherwise, i'll be looking elsewhere.

It's absolutely horrible news for anyone who values their privacy or the due process of law [with regards to wiretapping].

Re: AT&T buying T-Mobile?
AT&T has a history of surrendering full access to customer communications to the NSA (a fact to which former employees have testified.) [1][2] The NSA's surveillance operated without warrants [3], and the scope of their access was not limited to specific customers.ajkula66 wrote: I'm not saying you're wrong, but what exactly makes you say this?
Agreeing to and assisting in such a program does not strike me as the action of a company that cares much for the privacy of its customers or the rule of law.

What siblings? The events I was referring to took place well after almost all of them had coalesced back into AT&T.ajkula66 wrote: I don't doubt that for one split second...

And no, the remaining off-shoots didn't fare better. But T-Mobile did.

But not on privacy grounds.
AT&T has no exclusive on collaborative mischief with DHS.

Re: AT&T buying T-Mobile?
I always found it pretty interesting that the wireless aspect of the communications industry in the U.S. went anti-divestiture route quite some time ago and that no one was saying much of anything about it...
Sprint is pretty much the only major carrier that still holds its own, but given the price of its stock and the service quality (or shall we say lack thereof) I'd be betting that their days are numbered...
Of course, there will always be some small companies with a minute market share (Metro PCS comes to mind) but soon enough it will be AT&T Wireless vs. Verizon Wireless and the wireless offsprings of the two largest Baby Bells will be robbing us blind...

Re: AT&T buying T-Mobile?
Indeed. I'd say they're probably the worst offenders, but they're certainly not the only ones.elray wrote: AT&T has no exclusive on collaborative mischief with DHS.
I don't know much about stock analysis, so I can't comment there, but honestly I think their service is actually quite good. They're cheaper than the other carriers and they seem to have excellent coverage and network performance in the areas that I've used them.Sprint is pretty much the only major carrier that still holds its own, but given the price of its stock and the service quality (or shall we say lack thereof) I'd be betting that their days are numbered...
