FireFox 4: how to stop multiple GOBACK page choice

#1 Post by RealBlackStuff » Sun Apr 03, 2011 5:10 pm

I installed FF4 and am quite happy so far, EXCEPT about at least this one stupidity.
In FF3, there was an Arrow-Down next to the GoBack button.
You could just hit the normal button and go back 1 page, OR hit the Arrow-Down and select which page to go back to.
The Arrow-Down is no longer there, and I am really peed off by the multiple choice of pages that come up now.
You have to hit the GoBack button several times now instead of only once like in FF3.
Anybody found out how to modify that stupid behavior?

I found this, but that does not work:
In Firefox, you can set your backspace to better use by getting it to either go back to the previous page or act as page up function.

Config name: browser.backspace_action
Default: 2 (does nothing)
Modified value:

0 – go back previous page
1- page up

In the previous versions of FF I've always right-clicked the back (left) arrow button and not the arrow-down and selected from the choices (limited to the last 15 pages or so). With FF4, you can still do the same thing.

Guess I didn't phrase it properly:
I do NOT want any choice when I left-click the Goback arrow, I just want to GO BACK one step.

I am running FF4, and my go back button goes back one page. If I right click on it, it does what Ray says.

I'm using FF4.0.1. I miss the drop down, too, mostly because of the marker dot for the current page. I got used to finding certain things on certain buttons, but am starting to appreciate seeing all recent pages regardless of the current tab selected. My <- button only goes back one page. What is the Page Up function?

Do most folks know you can go back one page in
FF or IE by simply pressing the Backspace key?

That worked just once, then never again...
I'm still getting the pulldown-choice when clicking the goback-button in FF4.0.1

Did some searching on "firefox 4 dropdown right-click back button" and found that the dropdown option list can also be made to appear by (left) clicking the arrow button and holding it for a second. Maybe you have a browser add-on or desktop utility that's messed up your mouse clicks???
