I can spot these things a mile away, I figured they were obvious to everyone by now.

I too have discovered a crazy new Facebook scam.

So check this out:

There's a company out there that collects all sorts of personal information from you by posing as a useful website. They get *everything*: your birthday, where you've lived, where you went to school, what products you buy, what films you watch, where you go out to eat, who your friends are, even how often you influence your friends purchasing decisions. They even find photographs of you and your mates. They basically get your entire identity -- way more than enough to commit identity fraud!

Here's the crazy part: They aggregate all of this information, index it, and have found a legal way that they could sell it to anyone who pays them! It gets worse though. They share this information with advertisers, help them find new ways to target you more effectively, and even go so far as to use your personal information to advertise their products to your peers!

@ thinkrob - I think I've heard of that one  I don't worry about it though because I don't have an identiy worth stealing, and I don't have the money to buy anything that is advertised - they are wasting their time with me 8) (to reach the same state of identity security, follow the instructions in Red Green's book, "How to Do Everything" - loads of usefull information in there  ) I can post some of his tips if anyone is intersted in almost any topic under the sun (or moon/clouds/stars...)
