I wanted to start this new post to see how long it took for you guys to recieve the "shipped" status from IBM. Just so me and other people have an idea of how long it takes since purchase. In my case I am purchasing through Bill so I understand there is an extra delay since Bill has to recieve it from IBM and mail it to my address. How were you guys' experience with Bill also?
Thank you sooo much in advance!

I ordered June 1st, but then made some changes to my order on June 11th. My system then went to packaging/customizing phase on June 12th, and on June 13th it shipped. Today I checked the tracking info and it's headed to Miami. I should receive the system on Wednesday.

We ordered a 2378DXU on June 4, 2004.
It appears to have "shipped" on June 10, 2004 from Hong Kong. Our credit card was charged then, including charges for second day shipping. According to UPS, the unit has travelled to Houston TX and Lousiville, KY, where it is now supposedly languishing in FDA clearance.
Seems that the the rush shipping charge was a waste of money, although in the past, IBM has been good about refunding these types of charges even when stuff gets delayed, as here, beyond their control.
Of course, it was their business choice to manufacture/warehouse these machines in China, and accordingly, in a larger sense, the shipping delays are their fault.

I ordered my T42 2378DXU about 5 hours ago and my email notification gives a ship date of July 7th. Hope it gets here earlier.Sci-Clone wrote:Those numbers a pretty encouraging!I hope mine will be fast like that! Thanx for the post everyone!
I've been using a desktop for 8 years now and finally broke down and decided to add a laptop, mainly for mobile 'net use and some work.
This is my first post at this site. I look forward to being a frequent visitor here and learning about IBM ThinkPads from y'all.
To Skywing and all, our long nightmare of FDA captivity in Kentucky is finally over; all the bugs were found and our unit has been released to the Men In Brown for delivery today.
Ordered 6/4/04--on the local UPS truck 6/15/04.
Less time than the even the most optimistic two week initial estimate.

the reason it might take so long is because of the PM 755 2.0 GHz. They are not even listed on the IBM website anymore (I believe they were only there for the first day).Cgillies86 wrote:I orderd My My IBM ThinkPad t42p 2373-KTU with a Minidock on 5/28. T42 2378-FVU
Ordered my T42 2378-FVU with an additional 256MB of RAM on the 3rd of June, late in the afternoon (not sure if that has any impact). I was told by my computer supplier that it arrived yesterday, the 14th. This is after IBM said it would take 2-3 weeks, so I guess they were off a bit on the low end (not that I mind
)
