Lenovo Thinkpad Support Website has moved...

#1 Post by robert213 » Wed Jun 29, 2011 11:36 pm

IBM Thinkpad Support Website has moved...

From:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... eind=99914

To:
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product ... fault.page?

----- Edit --------------
I am shopping for an IBM T61 with 1024x768 or 1400x1050 (4:3) resolution.
I typed in my very first type model number: ThinkPad T61 (7659-2BU)

The new website gives me:
T7300(2GHz), 1GB RAM, 80GB 5400rpm HD, 14.1in 1280x768, Intel X3100, CDRW/DVD, Intel 802.11agn(n-disabled), Bluetooth, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure chip, Fingerprint reader, 4c Li-Ion, WinXP Pro

"1280x768" -- Is this an error?

Yes, but if you scroll to the lower right corner of the obnoxious pop-up thing you can click "No Thank You" and get the old site. ;)

Thank you. I didn't notice that.

I just learned that...
CTO - is abbreviation for Configure-To-Order

ThinkPad T61 (7661-CTO)
ThinkPad T61 Configure-To-Order system

--------- Edit ----------
Rather than looking up every type-model no, I think that I might be able to determine which T61(s) have a 4:3 screen by looking at the photos.

This "parts-only" T61 appears to have a 4:3 screen...

1024x768 and 1400x1050 are 4:3 screens.

That's if you can even get to that spot on the popup  . On my X60 right now (1024x768), only the top half of the popup is visible. Scrolling down the page makes the popup move along with it, via dynamic HTML I suppose, so it's impossible to select that link. Somebody at Lenovo should go back to web design school...

edit: Well, after forcing a refresh of that page, it looks like it's now being rendered correctly.

I found a nice solid T61 with Intel X3100 graphics with 15.4" 1280x800 screen.

It has Windows Vista COA sticker. Will Lenovo support sell me a Windows XP Recovery CD for T61?

Canceling the annoying pop-up does not get you to the old site, but "Use Quick Path" gets you to a box where you enter the model type. As long as I can still find things for a 2653-N5U (A31p), I'm OK with it. Annoying, but not felony stupid.

If using FireFox, get this AddOn: http://mycroft.mozdev.org/search-engine ... Lenovo+MTM
The MTM is still working the 'old way'.
