Acer laptop and Win 7 three D Fonts??

#1 Post by BruisedQuasar » Tue Jul 19, 2011 2:35 pm

Help. I thought I knew my way around Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1 from my Thinkpads until I got my hands on my grandson's new
Acer netbook. It ships with a goofy desktop font. I suspect its meant to look 3d but it's just plain hard to read, due to block shaped letters and goofy shadows. I tried to find a way to return to classic windows desktop fonts and found just a font tune up program. I went through the 4 steps and got a fantastic looking font and and font background. Unfortunately, it had no effect on the icon or folder font.

How in the heck do I turn off this feature?

go into the system preferences, advanced apperance options (old-style box) and select icon - you can choose the font + size in there.

Good luck

Good luck
Thank you for the reply. I've been there. Size isn't problem. The problem is the font. I don't think its the font per se. Any font I pick will end up looking like this. Its some lame new Wind attempt to be cool. Fortunately, this 3d effect only appears on the desktop. Everywhere else fonts are normal. This font "enhancement?" looks like something my friends and I did in fourth grade, where you blocked your letters and penciled in shade. No good for reading but it looked cool.

Thank you! Precisely what I was looking for. I can't image who would want this font enhancement. I suppose the sort of person who
prefers Henry James writing over Mark Twain. James had nothing to say and embellished his novels with flowery words to do it. Twain had a lot to say and he simply & clearly said it --with great wit.
