Anybody smoke cigars here? When my family gets together, my brothers, father and I smoke cigars each night, usually in Cape Cod. I am not a connoisseur by any means, but the best cigar I ever had is a Victor Sinclair Double Maduro Torpedo. I am a big fan of maduros. For my fathers birthday this year I am going to get him this sampler from Thompson:

Re: The cigar room
My late father loved a good cigar, especially Romeo y Julieta from Havana. When I visited Washington DC I used to buy him cigars from a shop on M street in Georgetown. They couldn't sell Cuban cigars because of a ban on imports from Cuba, but they did stock cigars from the Dominican Republic. I think the name was Rey del Mundo and they were grown from Cuban seed. He said they were a good alternative.
I rarely smoke cigars, maybe one a year. My preferred brand is Cohiba which is Cuban. Are products from Cuba still banned in the USA?

Yes, Cuban cigars are still banned. Cohibas that sell in the USA are made in the Dominican, they do have operations in Cuba, but can not sell here.
