Hi all,
Those who did upgraded from the stock SATA HDD to SSD, does it worth the upgrade besides a faster bootup? I carry this baby around different sites whilst doing PABX install I can think of reliability without shutting off the disk moving around, but this one is costly.....not to mention reinstalling.
Thanks in advance.

Hiya Floppy*;
Nei-how.... Welcome to the TP Forum. Am sure you find lots of resources - just do a "search" ....it works !
see you have a couple of more (other) posts here...
T4x - excellent machine - might be cheaper to get T6x Series - money better spent as T4x parts are gettting hard to get - even in HK
SSD - since you mention "pabx" ...might be moresuitable to get a LINUX install on laptop -and T6x is best of best for that OS
(can also do dualboot AND run VT stuff also) However - the SSD price alone - you could buy a new laptop! ....and SSD in x120 isnt much reliable when it comes to "heavy abuse" ...... I have lots of feedback from my Techs - they all wana GO BACK to T60/61P (14inch models).....
I have a personal x121 (sourced from Japan) with i5 and SSD in it > makes it superfast !! but the x120(USA+ Asia Model) is noth worth it since its AMD proc! ... I love my
SONY z2+ raided ssds+1080pmodel for my travels - love it love it!!!
Hope this helps
Cheers

Hi ausmike,
I hear ya', I have a x220 with a SSD in it and it rocks.! That's why i asked, the x120e came with a already quite fast HDD (7,200rpm) and i assumed it will not bring along a lot of improvement in terms of performance but am concern on how I can walk around with it without worrying pin crashes etc and maybe lighter both physically and on the battery life.
Price is around $1,000 HKD ($120 USD) and i found 1 on taobao (similar to ebay in China) for $800 RMB (<$100 USD) by Samsung.
Still deciding.....

yips ,,, knowof TaoBao ; Alibaba etc ,,,,(since i am often enough in Asia)
However with any SSD = not much use; as the AMD Proc often max's out & becomes a 'bottleneck'..... thats WHY I went for the Japan model with i5 .....
Than i found the z2 from sony = best of best = has eveything one can ever want in a laptop (exceot the price= huge!!!!)
Hope this helps
Cheers

Windows Experience Index gave the AMD E-350 only a 3.1, compare to a 7.1 on an i7 off the x220. Still trying to leverage between price - weight / power comsumption on the SSD.

Just wanted to update, upgraded an OCZ Agility 3 120G with Windows 7 Premium, installed and patched without any issue. CrystalDiskMark about 180MB/s Read & 190MB/s Write, not the best score but quite happy with the startup and shut down time. Also a lot less heat dissipation for some reason, a big plus.
