X131e not compatible with 9.5mm HD? *PIC*

One place online says the X131e only takes 7mm HD's, another says it can take a 9.5mm HD. Yet another place said it would fit if you didn't use the rubber railings but that's just silly because the X131e doesn't even have that kind of classic ThinkPad style drive caddy.

I want to use a 9.5mm 1TB drive in it, so I'd like to know if I should trade that for a slim one.

Imagine my shock when I opened it up and tried to slide in my OCZ Vertex 3 SSD. It wouldn't fit. Then I noticed the height of the 500GB drive was lower than every other drive I've ever used. Realized after some googling there is a new "low profile" drive that is 7mm. Even on all my recent machines (T420, Intel ultrabook), I've never encountered one of these 7mm drives.

I had to void the warranty of my OCZ, but I simply took off the case. The board itself, with all components can't be really more than 5mm deep.

Not that new. X220 also required 7mm drive (a major reason why I didn't buy one when they were new). I believe T420s as well. Fortunately as you found I think most/all "9.5mm" SSDs are really 7mm drives in a removable frame or case.
