X140e keeps hibernating after telling it not to hibernate

#1 Post by mikey pizano » Thu Jan 22, 2015 9:28 am

Ok this is annoying me. I have set the "Hibernate after" setting to never, yet when I open the lid in the morning, it went into hibernation over night... Is there something I missed?

A number of things come to mind:

- What OS are we talking about?
- I'm assuming that when you say you open the system in the morning, that it's been connected to an AC adapter the whole time. Double-check that your hibernate option is for when the system is connected to AC power.
- Exactly where, are you setting the hibernate timer to "never"? I believe you can get to a setting like that in two different places: Lenovo's Power Manager and Windows itself.
- What is "lid closed" option set to?

Whoops forgot the details! New toys will do that to you...

Windows 8.1. I set it under the power settings in Control Panel. Lid setting is set to sleep only. Where are the Lenovo power settings? I installed from scratch since it came without a hard drive. Also it is plugged in, hibernate on both is set to never.

Okay, I've got next to nothing experience on Win8 so I don't know if there were any ThinkVantage tools to handle the power settings. From the sounds of it, you've hit all the right buttons.

Wouldn't care but don't wanna ruin my new SSD or waste 8GB of space for something I don't want.
