Lenovo X140e Video Issue

#1 Post by 4v3ng3r1987 » Thu Feb 18, 2016 2:47 pm

Hello All,

I have a Lenovo ThinkPad X140e laptop that has been giving us issues. You can start it up once and subsequently restart it and it will boot fine most of the time. Every so often, when you restart the laptop or do a shutdown and power back on, it will display a black screen. There is no POST activity and it doesn't boot into Windows. It will just sit there, for a lack of a better phrase, brain dead. The only way to work around this is to hold the power button until it shuts off and wait about 15 minutes. After that, it will boot fine. This seems to happen randomly, however, it seems more frequent after the laptop has been running for 10 minutes or more. If anyone has any suggestions, it would be most appreciated. Thank you.

Things to check: main battery and CMOS battery.
Does this also happen if you remove the main battery and only run on AC?
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)
