Adding back the OEM Certificaes
How do I add these back into a Win 7 Ultimate load, that is no longer activated?
I tried updating/reflashing the BIOS,that did not work.
Thanks
Ron

Re: Adding back the OEM Certificaes
If you have a copy of the product key (25-letter alphanumeric code) and the certificate file--it's an XML file with an extension of .XRM-MS-- all you need is to open a Command Prompt with Administrator privileges, go to the directory that contains the license file, then type:
This will install the certificate file.
This will install the product key.
Then finally:
This will activate the product, verifying that the license and product key are valid. This can take a few minutes IIRC, so be patient.
Take note that the BIOS contains the last piece of the puzzle a Software License (SLIC) table. If the BIOS lacks the SLIC, the activation process will fail.
Code: Select all
slmgr /ilc <insert the filename of the certificate>
Code: Select all
slmgr /ipk <insert product key>
Then finally:
Code: Select all
slmgr /ato
Take note that the BIOS contains the last piece of the puzzle a Software License (SLIC) table. If the BIOS lacks the SLIC, the activation process will fail.

Re: Adding back the OEM Certificaes
It cam factory with Windows 7, so I reinstalled with the $***$ file (obscured on purpose). I flashed to do away with the Whitelist, and Boom the activation is gone.
I then reflashed from within windows, no go
So I burned an official ISO from lenovo, fired up a USB CD R/W and rereflashed, no go
As the sticker on the bottom of the machine is half missing, trying to reinput the product key, is also a no go. I have no issues with reinstalling windows, but need to fix the BIOS first.

Re: Adding back the OEM Certificaes
Check if the BIOS still has the SLIC table. I use SLIC Toolkit 3.2 for that.
There are 2 possibilities:
1. No SLIC on the non-whitelist BIOS.
2. Non-whitelist BIOS has different SLIC from official BIOS.

Re: Adding back the OEM Certificaes
Thats part of the weird part. It has no SLIC at all!
This is after, I reflashed the OEM BIOS. At the very least it should have 2.0

Re: Adding back the OEM Certificaes
You have 3 options at this point.
1. Look for a non-whitelist BIOS containing the SLIC table.
2. Inject the SLIC table yourself. (dangerous, with a real risk of bricking the laptop)
3. Use an activator (illegal)
