X131e hinges fragile

#1 Post by dwilsonfl » Tue Oct 30, 2018 9:15 pm

I teach 3rd grade and have been buying used 131e units. They looked so rugged I thought they'd replace my ancient Samsungs. But when they are dropped, the screen hinge screws just pull out of their receptacles because the plastic cracks. Not a hard drop either. Any ideas? I'm about to JB Weld the suckers shut in frustration so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

David

Well welcome to cheap laptop syndrome. All cheap laptops have bad hinges. What I'd do right now is replace all the units with the fragile hinges with good parts, and then everything else squirt the [censored] out of it with JB weld or some other type of strong epoxy to support the hinge.
Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.
