X131e Fan noise emissions from different manufacturers

#1 Post by Khavvie » Mon Jun 17, 2019 5:01 am

I've had my X131e as long as I've been on this forum but now since 6 years has passed, I feel like I could make a change to my X131e so it's less irritating when I use it. The fan revs up even when at the login screen and is really irritating.

I had a look inside the thing to see what fan it has, and it's a Panasonic. But are Panasonics notorious for the noise, and have there been any Delta fans for the unit? If that's the case then would it be best to change out the fan for a Delta if anyone has done so?

There are 2 options:
04W6857 N Thermal Module DELTA
04W6858 N Thermal Module AVC
Either one should be better than the Panasonic.
And new decent thermal paste, like Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut, would help a lot as well.
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)

I'll look for those fans and get one of them when I manage to disassemble the thing. A shame how getting to the fan is really difficult.
