I am pleased to see a cheap ThinkPad in the range, but I am a little upset about Lenovo moving to the Macbook/VAIO scrabble style keyboards, as I think they are absolute rubbish. The keyboard was the one thing that they really did not have to change. The ThinkPad range should not be about making compromises for the sake of aesthetics.

If anybody has used one of these new ThinkPads yet, what do they think of the keyboard. Is it really more tactile than a Macbook's?

I haven't tried it. But if it feels the same, and the only difference is the sides of the keys, what does it matter?

Problem is the ones I have tested really do feel different. There is a lot more too it than just aesthetics. When I first laid my hands on the new Unibody MacBook Pro the first thing I noticed was how I didn't like the keyboard.

So far my favorite laptop keyboard of all time is on my X31.

I really need to try out a Mac- period.

I'd like to see what the fuss is all about!

I now have an X100e. And I too was very concerned about the 'scrabble' keyboard.

You really do have to try it for yourself, but I think it's really good. Very easy to type fast on, good key movement, no flex and great feedback. Way, way better than a Mac Unibody keyboard and much better than the Dell E4300 'flat' keyboard on my work PC.

Is it worse than a traditional Thinkpad keyboard? Not in my opinion - just different. (But it is a shame about the loss of the discrete volume keys, and the thinklight.)

I am happy with my Macbook KB but x100e's KB looks annoying to me
