Has anybody made recovery disks using the Lenovo recovery tools? How many disks were required?
The OS on my machine is Win7 Pro 32-bit, the recovery tool is not giving me information about how many disks are needed before starting the process.

You need 1 x CD ROM + 2x4,7 Gb DVD (obviously 3 dvd are also fine) or a 8gb usb stick.
This is what you need if you have win7 preinstalled, maybe xp will fit on just 1cd+1 dvd, but I'm not sure.

I use 1 CD for the Boot Disc and 1 DVD+R DL dual layer DVD for the Product Recovery Disc.
I've done this with quite a few Lenovo machines. Latest were my X100e Dual Core and my W510.
Don't bother wasting a DVD, especially a dual layer DVD, on the first boot disc.

Yes, this is a further choice, but frankly I'm not too confident on the durability of DL media, also the compatibility issue with different brands of dvd reader are increased, so I feel better with the more conservative way of 2x4.7 GB DVD media, at least for critical storage.

Does the first disc have to be a CD? These days, blank CDs actually cost more than DVD's.

Maybe reading before posting could help...
