X100e mouse lag & stutter in desktop

#1 Post by RS_003 » Wed Jun 23, 2010 11:09 am

Hi All,

I just got my hands on a brand new Lenovo X100e with the high-end CPU (Neo L625) with 3Gb's of ram and a 320Gb 5400rpm hard disk drive.
The notebook itself is nice and all ... but …

Let me first explain that this is a completely clean Windows 7 Professional 32bits installation, I have done nothing except for taking it out of the box and running the activation.

Immediately I noticed the track point mouse lagging for moments, sometimes it feels smooth, but then suddenly without any hint it looks more like I am playing a high-end 3D game on a too slow 3D card… in other words, it looks like my mouse is doing 15FPS or something like that. To put it simple, it stutters.

The same goes for the touchpad, although I always use the track point, the same lag is there when I use the touchpad. I already run a system update, and also downloaded new drivers for the touchpad & track point but this lead to no results other than me being even more frustrated with my new purchase.

When browsing the forums it looks like I am the only one?

I noticed something similar with one of the updates for the Synaptic touch pad, not quite sure but I think it was one that came off of windows updates. The touchpad was somewhat slow to respond but what really bothered me was how it broke the vertical scrolling, both with one finger on the side and with two finger scrolling. I downgraded to a previous version from lenovo and it went away.

I have been playing around for a while now.
Yes, the W7 update breaks the schrolling.

But the lag actually is caused by the ThinkPad power management driver.
Or, atleast it seems like it right now.

Could you test this for me by uninstalling it? It seems that it has no further effect on the system since I still get a 4:30 hours out of my battery :)

Someone who recognizes this problem?
It is really driving me crazy, and the "helpdesk" doesn’t know of the problem... besides have you tried installing new drivers?

So, how does one get into contact with the people who can actually do something about this? It is really in the powermanagement driver.

Hi,

I had the same issue and got it resolved by downgrading to a previous driver version for UltraNav.

The latest version on the Lenovo site is: 15.0.18.0

Just uninstall that driver, then download 14.0.17.0 (just Google it) and it's working like a charm now.

Cheers,
P!
