Connects to router, not to Internet, wired is OK

My granddaughter's X100e connects wirelessly at my house through my WPA encrypted router. At home, it connects wired to the router and the Internet but not wirelessly (unencrypted) to the Internet, only as far as the router. Her mom's T500 connects OK at the same time. The W7 Control Panel/Network... graphic shows it's connected to the router but not connected from the router to the Internet. The balloon messages at the Taskbar icons show "Connected" and "100%." She was able to connect OK to one of the neighborhood's unsecured WLANs. Took it back to my house and everything was still OK there.

We tried resetting the Belkin router with no change. It seems I'm probably missing something, but what?

Regards.
Rick

I'm probably the least qualified to try to answer this -- but have you tried resetting internet explorer to deaults?

Inernet Explorer/ Tools/ Internet Options/ Advanced/ Reset

Someone will probably come along with a better answer, but maybe this could work -- can't hurt to try...

Have her go to start, run, type in cmd.exe, hit enter
Run the following command;

ipconfig /all

Have her cut and paste the results here or email them to you and paste them here.

Thanks, I'll try that; although, we've been using Firefox.

She's away for the weekend, but I'll try that on Sunday or Monday when she gets back. Thanks.

Sorry for the delay. Here is what we found (wired; below is wireless). I just tried my T500 XP, and that worked with no trouble. I'm going to update the router's firmware.

This is odd. I unplugged the ethernet cable so I could obtain the ip info while wirelees. I had to turn on the radio and it connected (although it always said it was connected before, but we couldn't get to the Internet). I edited the previous post successfully without realizing I was connected OK. I shut down and started up again; Access Connections connected automatically, as before, but also connected to the Internet. I'm perplexed to say the least. BTW, I haven't made any other changes and haven't updated the firmware yet.

Well, basically the ipconfig looks normal so I would expect that you are connected.

Just ping 192.168.2.1.

If you get the reply you are correctly connected to the router.

Then ping 4.2.2.2

If you get the reply you are connected also to the internet, but you have a dns problem.

Well, I don't get it, but everything seems fine now. We'll see how it goes.

Thanks to everyone for your input and help.
