This question is especially to current owners of the X100e. If an X100e L625 w/ Windows 7 Pro 32bit and bluetooth could be bought from Lenovo for $289, would you recommend buying it? Or would you wait for the X120e with the advantages - known: an HDMI output; claimed: less heat, better battery and graphics performance - that it offers?

BTW, the $289 is the final price I get on the above configuration (w/ the standard 1GB RAM) using the link at LogicBuy and applying their stackable discount code. But there's no link on the page to submit the order, so it remains to be seen whether Lenovo would honor that pricing on a phone order. Nevertheless, the X100e is likely headed for some closeout pricing soon.

Well the X100e - Ultracool ultraportable as seen on the website. But the new x120e is supposed to be slimmest yet I was just reading

I guess it would depend on the premium the X120e commnads and how much you're willing to pay. The dual core X100e was about $600 when it was released. I suspect the X120e will be about the same. For another $100 you could probably slide into a X201i. If you figure you can buy online without tax, that means the premium for the X201i is only about $50. I'd say the better quality and better performance the X201i will offer is worth $50. If you want to hit eBay, you might do better. If you just need something and want to keep the budget low, it's not a bad choice. Good Luck.

The starting price for the X120e is $400, same as for the single-core X100e. No doubt the X201i is a more durable machine, but my question was more about $289 vs. $400, and the X100e L625 w/ 7 Pro and bluetooth vs. the entry-level X120e.

Is the $400 for the single or dual core? That would be a pretty big difference. Value questions are always tough to answer for someone else. You also didn't really say much about what you want or need. That will effect the choice for many.

I have an X100e and as reported it is very hot and poor poor battery life, hopefully reports of cooler running and more battery will turn out to be true on the X120e, we all wait to see!!! As for slimmer, most reports I have seen say it is the same chassis with Fusion combined cpu and gpu chip - hopefully better because I love the small form and the keyboard of this nearly thinkpad.

Owning a x100e double core my self, I wouldn't buy one again not even at $289. Actually you will end up spending $30 or $40 more for more memory (1GB is not enough -just my opinion-).

The overheat problem is #1 problem for me. Then the battery life. I would rather wait to see if the x120e solves both issues.

Save your money for the x120e if you can wait a month or two (to see how the customer reviews come out).

Thanks. That's the kind of comparison I was looking for from someone who's owned the dual core. I'd already considered the additional cost for RAM, but of course the $399 X120e will probably only have 1GB standard as well.

I get the impression that the heat is an issue for most, though not all X100e users.
