MV-40: AMD Virtualisation off: drawbacks?

The MV-40 is capable of using AMD Virtualisation.
What happenes if I switch that off?
Do other programs as VMWare or M$ Windows XP Mode use this part of the CPU?
Is the CPU running cooler with Virt. off?
Are there any drawbacks with Virt. off if I don't use VMWare or XP Mode?

Yes, Virtual PC and xp mode use virtualization (Probably most others, but I don't know for sure). If you do not use them, you can turn off the virtualization, and there will be no ill effects. I'm not sure if the cpu will run cooler, you may have to try and see for yourself.

Probably won't make a difference if you don't use Virtualization. VMWare and XP Mode certainly can and will where available. I highly doubt it makes it run cooler, and it'd certainly run warmer on VMWare/XP Mode with it off due to the extra inefficiencies.
