ThinkPad 510CS CMOS battery

#1 Post by goldeneagle » Wed Oct 12, 2016 2:45 pm

Does anyone know if this battery is socketed, or soldered to the planar (system board)? I couldn't find an actual image of the board, and the HMM isn't specific. I'd like to find out before I tear the system apart.

I realize this thread is old and you've certainly solved your problem by now, but in the interest of helping others, yes. It's a 2330 3V cell and it's soldered to the motherboard using two tabs. I just broke off the tabs and replaced it with a 2 X AA battery pack, which there's now space for because the hard drive is replaced with an IDE <--> CF converter.

Cheers,
