Another thinkpad iseries 1200 question
Do appreciate all your help, I feel so ignorant, but know I am playing outside the lines and need to know things that aren't in books.
Have established that I can put a 256m chip in at cp100. If I get one that is for IBM would a cp133 be backward compatible? They are so much more affordable.
Thanks again

It should be, I see no reason why it wouldn't, but you might loose some reliability.
Side effects of using PC133 in a system that uses PC100 can range from something as little as an extra second or two in boot up to something big as blue screens on many softwares. In other cases, there are no side effects. It really depends on the computer and the quality of the RAM.
I'd buy a stick of PC133 and see how well that runs and if it gives any proiblems, then return it. The only thing's I'd look out for when buying RAM for older machines is one, make sure it's from a company of high reputation and that the RAM is low density.
