Sandisk flashdrive in 600E

Hi
I got a 2.5" Sandisk Flash drive 256MB and I tried to replace the original HDD with that in my 600E. The system didn't found the flash drive. Any ideas how to get it working? I am trying to make a navigator for boat use and I would like to get rid of the normal HDD.
