[Moderator's Note: Split from Official 770 Upgrade Thread. This is specific to the 770 model, and may lead to confusion in the general official 770 Upgrade thread, which is for ALL 770 models.]
HOW TO GET THE "NEWEST" BIOS
Note: to enter BIOS, power off the machine and turn it on while holding F1.
1)
Download this file and burn it to a CD - the md5sum should be 076aca85557ff5d33a7a563bad08b1fd:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=X12QAHIG
2)
Enter BIOS. Choose Config > Network and make sure that "Flash" is enabled.
Also make sure that CD is your first boot option.
3)
Insert the disk and boot from it. Press enter until you get an "A:" prompt.
4)
type "FLASH2 /u", minus the quotation marks ONCE to let the BIOS update.
5)
Reboot the machine to BIOS, choose Config > Initialize and reboot again - you should now have the last BIOS that was released for this machine!
There is no guarantee whatsoever - all I can say is that this worked for me, without a floppy drive and without Windows.
