Need help with 600x

i have a 600x and the screen went out and all u get is black you can plug monitor up to it and it works fine so i went and bouth a new screen for it and put in and it sitll does not work can anyone help any ideas on what to try next

I assume you have not toggled the LCD off with the Function key combo? I think it is Alt + F4 or something...

Check the switch that detects when the display is closed! It's just above the keyboard towards the left hinge.

Common failure on the 600 series, especially if the unit has been opened up.

i tryed the alt F4 and the hinge they did not work amy more ideas hell the mobo might be bad

Is there any flicker during boot or after? Are you sure the lcd cable is properly and fulyl seated? Just a wild guess. Other than that, I can only assume the mobo may be bad, or at least the video portion is shot....

I would have thought that if the video was bad he wouldn't be able to use an external monitor either.

Also, I think it's Fn+F7 to toggle the display modes.

Xeye, have you tried going into EZ-Setup with the external monitor attached and running the Video and/or LCD tests?

EZ-Setup on the 600X does not have tests. Download PC-Doctor from IBM for tests.
