OS Won't Boot - Thinkpad 600 2645-35u

Thanks in advance for any help. The OS won't boot and I can't tell if one is even there. Windows 95 is supposed to be though. I can't get into the bios for some reason (hold f1 or hit f12?) and booting from cd-rom wont work either (it never prompts). Basically it goes straight to the config options. I've done the system tests and everything tests ok. I get these errors codes on boot: 00192,00173,00163. Thanks again

Ok after digging more I've found info saying this is a battery problem. If so, I guess resolving the issue is going to cost a little money, right?

If memory serves, those errors are the ones that come up when the CMOS battery is dying - does it seem to be asking for you to set the time and date?
If so, replacing the button cell (accessible through the memory compartment cover should help. There are a few posts in the forum on how to do this - a quick search should turn up at least half a dozen, which should be more than sufficient to get you started.
If you have trouble, let us know.

Here you go:

There are many others on eBay as well...all about the same price unless you buy an OEM IBM battery which are more expensive. My experience is that they are the same.

I've had them replaced at a local battery shop (Batteries Plus). They remove the wire from my old cell, spot-weld the contacts onto a new cell and shrink wrap the thing.
The cell is about $2.59. Once they charged $1 for the re-wiring, and at another store they did it for free.
You might want to shop around locally.
