Greenish border around some objects on the screen.

Hello everybody!
I would like to ask you for a hint. I have TP 600x model. I installed both WinXP and Linux. In both OS I set 1024 x 768 resolution with 24 bits for colors. It worked properly and without any problems.
Yesterday I noticed a problem that drives me crazy. First under WinXP and then under Linux I noticed a greenish border around some letters and objects on the screen. When I looked deeper, I could see that some of the pixels on the monitor are gree instead of expected color (black or blue, for instance).
When I tried to solve the problem, I found that (under WinXP) this problem could be solved if I set not 24 bits but 16. But, as fas as I remember, I had it set to 24!
As background I can say that I installed several programms (freeware) recently. Can this problem be caused by that software? And in general, what could be the reason for such a problem? Should I plan the exchange of the monitor in the coming future?
I will appreciate any help and hints!
Regards,
Andrey.
PS. Extra information: for the test I connected the laptop to the external monitor. All the colours are OK, even with 24 bits. And now, when I type, I can see green "shadow" of the cursor line - on the left side of the cursor line.
