That's what I've got in several 600X machines. Works great.

Wow! Great price for a great drive! Liteon is my favorite CD/DVD company and I have them in all my desktops. I don't think you can go wrong.
BTW, any drive that will fit in the bay of any thinkpad is going to be plug and play.

Yeah. That's kinda what I thought. One year warranty, free 2 day ship, & software, too. Beats the daylights out of those $75 + 15 shp, & 30 days on Ebay.

I'm not too sure about that because one can switch caddies and make many fit.
Thanks guys, KC

That's right...and if they truly fit (all the pins line up and are seated correctly) then they will be recognized by your Thinkpad. At least this has been my experience. I have never not had a CD/DVD recognized by my Thinkpads.
By george I think It might fit

I just ordered one of those drives, I had one and only one problem and that was getting those tiny screws out that hold the rails on the old drive (which was startign to become a bit flakey) on my Thinkpad (The old drive was cd-read only)
Seems IBM locktighted those screws... but I got them out, put the rails on the new drive and snapped it into place..... Haven't tried with a DVD yet nor have I tried burning a disk but it plays cd well.. if it does that the rest should follow naturally

It says "With Power DVD and NERO" however no software was included in the package, it is possible the software will be shipped under seperate coveer but I'm not holding my breath, I will write the company
I also have Power DVD already installed on the computer and NERO "in stock" 2 or 3 different versions so it's not an issue for me (I may put NERO OEM version on this machine since I don't use the crippled portions of NERO)
I'm kind of happy to have the drive though, haven't tried burning with it yet
