CD Firmware issues on Thinkpad 380XD

#1 Post by gwhaag » Tue Apr 19, 2005 12:33 pm

I was putting some updates down on my laptop and found that after I applied the following Firmware update on my 380 XD, that I could not use the drive any longer.

http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.ws ... g=en&cc=US

Does anyone have an older version of the firmware that might allow me to revert to an older firmware?

After the process was complete it changed the drive from a Sanyo CRD-S372V to a Sanyo CRD-S300 with a firmware revision of Mini.

The drive does show up in Windows, but you cannot open the drive without using a paper clip and it does not read any disks that are put into the drive.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Glen

I have the same problem...
:(
I made an update to the latest version (1.50) and deactivated my cd-rom

Does anyone have the original version? ...Or how can I get back to factory settings...

I do not know how to solve this situation.... :( :( :(

Welcome to thinkpads.com!

Near the top of each forum page there is a link titled "Drivers". Click that and then the line named "ThinkPad 380XD, 385XD". That will lead to a page that should have all of the drivers for the 380XD. At the top of that page, click the dropdown box "Category" and select "Optical Drive". You should see two firmware updates (bootable diskettes). Maybe one of those will work?

Thank you for response !

The firmware that I used was downloaded from this site.
I need an older firmware version.

I already have three days of searching and I haven't found it... :(

Check this antiques repository: http://john.ccac.rwth-aachen.de:8000/ft ... s/mobiles/
Read the very first file 00index.txt to see which file has which name.

For more antiques: http://greyghost.mooo.com/pccbbs/mobiles/
(same .txt applies)
(one website might be a mirror of the other.)

And another one: http://ps-2.kev009.com/

And if all else fails, buy another 380XD: http://www.ebay.com/itm/182666707325
