Lithium ion batteries for 560X

I am in the proccess of restuffing the (dead) battery that came with my 560X (46H4144, 46H3969). I managed to crack it open, desolder it etc. and I may post the pictures of the process at the end. My question is if anyone knows where to buy Lithium Ion 1.2V AA batteries in the UK. It seems they are rarely manufactered in an AA form. I googled a lot only to find some in the US (http://www.goodluckbuy.com/2x-rechargea ... pack-.html) but bearing in mind this, it's not an option :?

I tried googling the ones used from IBM, but they seem to be japanese and google is not helping either:

Any ideas or alternatives?

Are you sure they are Li-ion 1.2V cells? Because AFAIK all Li-ion cells are 3.6V (sometimes marked 3.7V). Only NiMh / NiCd cells are 1.2V each

I updated the link in my first post, with the photo I took of the batteries inside.

Given that it outputs 10.8V and there are 9 batteries in total (6 of them are visible in the photo above), they should be 1.2V each I reckon...

Here's one more close-up

As stated by twistero, lithium ion technology battery cells are 3.6V. By virtue of the chemistry involved it can't get any lower, certainly not 1.2V which is in the realm of nickel-metal hydride (NiMh) or nickel cadmium (NiCd) cells. The math (number of cells) works out like this: 3 cells are strung together in series (end-to-end) to get the 10.8V (3 x 3.6V). Two other such 3-cell strings are also in the battery pack. All three of those strings are tied together in parallel to arrive at the same 10.8V but with a higher current capability than a single string.

The photo shows lithium ion batteries that are of the type 17500. This is the external dimensions, in mm, of the cells. They are 17mm in diameter and 50.0mm long. Do a search of that type and you should find what you need.

I haven't touched upon this matter since then, but instead of buying new batteries I will attempt the following (having nothing to lose):

This website in fact is very informative regarding legacy thinkpads...
