Hello all

I was perusing the user manual on the 755CD I am restoring and noticed a vague reference to more than 40 megs main memory. Here's the quote:

"You might want to install more memory to maximize the computer's
capability. Instead of using IC DRAM cards, you can install the
DIMM adapter, with one or two DIMMs, in the same slot you would
install the IC DRAM card. The memory capacity can be expanded
up to 36MB. The DIMM adapter has two sockets for future
expansion."

My question is, has anybody tried using 32 or 64 meg 72 pin FPM SODIMMS in this type of machine? I found and bought the adapter card on eBay for less than ten dollars, but before I drop 80 bucks or more on the RAM I'd like to know if it would show as more than 40MB.

I thought I'd post an update in case anyone was interested.

I found some generic 32MB, non-parity, FPM SODIMMS that are intended for an older Toshiba laptop on eBay. I installed them in the IBM 59G3998 adapter and the system counted up the full 64MB of RAM, then stalled with a 201 error.

With one of the RAM modules removed the 201 error goes away, it counts up 40MB of ram just like the 32MB credit card adapter will, but the system reboots as soon as Win98SE begins loading.

I'm still wondering if the 32MB modules for the 700 series will work. It's the Pentium 75 version of the 755CD so non parity memory isn't supposed to be an issue, but I think I'm going to call this machine good and start looking around for a 765L to play with instead.
