Recovery Media for IBM ThinkPad S30?
In request and I am new here (oh dear forgot to say Hello )...
I got a IBM ThinkPad S30 with piano finish in China (I am living in China), but I want to use the original OS copy (WinME or WinXP, I got both COA on the machine and on the WinXP on I got "Technical Upgrade") so of course I will need to get the original Recovery Media.
It's nearly impossible to get one in China, so the fastest way of it is to DOWNLOAD.... I know WinMe is now abandonware so it should be legal to get one (I have genuine copy of WinXP and I will upgrade to it later on).
Anyone who has it please tell me, thanks (and sorry for my English)!
i'm not sure if there is a recovery partition on the one (of two) S30 i now own..
but i recall that the recovery media for the transnote would do a credible job of restoring an S30..
welcome to the forum..

Well... I think no mean recovery CD (or Media) for your s30. Because, Discontinue to support Technical of XP.
You would be faster XP install and then some fuction until as below link,
s30 Drivers Matrix : http://nothing.sh/thinkpad/s30.html
Finally, Make to use backup image (simliar Ghost, acrinis True image...)

Re: Recovery Media for IBM ThinkPad S30?
Well, to revive an old thread,
It's been a while and i STILL haven't manage to find anyone that have the recovery cd's for the Ibm ThinkPad s30 /31 (2639).
Does anyone here have by any chance the ThinkPad s30/s31 recovery cd?
Or even the hidden recovery partition, and willing to share it?
I will be more than happy to pay for it…
I've been looking for them it seems like no one bothered to keep them.
So many ThinkPad's lovers and no-love for me...(
Those ThinkPad's were hard to find, but trying to find the recovery cd's is really taking its toll...
Help, anyone?

Re: Recovery Media for IBM ThinkPad S30?
I usually have to track down an ISO for a retail version of whatever OS I want and then I burn to CD. Then I keep a flash drive around for the sole purpose of putting drivers on newly-installed computers.
Something I've noticed: The longer someone has something, or the more times it changes hands, the accessories go AWOL. That's just how it goes. I've had some great scores, but something like a missing accessory, driver or manual drives me bonkers.
Right now, I'm fixing up a 380xd I found in the trash, and I would kill for a full set of documentation and driver disks. But alas, I'm using my burned 98SE copy and a flash drive. I have an A20m that's next on my fix-up list (pulled from the same trash pile) that I'm going to need to blow out, and I'll use the same procedure.

Hi,
Long time no post ! I'm currently selling off my Thinkpad collection and I'm preparing my mint complete in box S30. In this end I preciously imaged the new recovery CDs in order to make them available to everyone. Here they are: https://archive.org/details/SLCJP10.
I hope it helps!

Hello, does anyone have these? Torrent linked seems to be inactive for some time. I'm restoring two absolutely great shaped S30 Thinkapds, but I have some troubles with drivers - they are difficult to get these days...

I have the ISOs. You can also still download them from archive.org.

Thanks, got them - but these does not seems to be full recovery images, they do not contain original operating system or drivers - just some "junk" software (I say junk because I even cannot translate what is it for, no offense )

I noticed that, too. I also noticed none of the discs are bootable...

Re: Recovery Media for IBM ThinkPad S30?
some of drivers are available here: http://ps-2.retropc.se/pccbbs/ (good source) - but anyway, I would prefer original OS - ideally hongkong/english version, mentioned in hardware maintenance manual:
Recovery CD English ASEAN, Hong Kong
XPHome for s31 (2639-53A, 53H)
32P6298
Recovery CD T/C Taiwan XPHome for s31
(2639-54T)
46P6364
Recovery CD T/C Hong Kong XPHome for s31
(2639-53B)
