plug a 765d computer to computer

#1 Post by penseur » Tue Jan 29, 2013 3:47 pm

Hi,

I have a 765d and would like to know if it is possible to connect to another computer using a usb cable or something similar?
I've seen a lot of videos on this, but I've not found the port who should be used on the 765d.

Thanks

I think the 770 series was the first Thinkpad with USB.

Back in the Jurassic period, one would use the serial or parallel port to communicate between two computers. However, there was a very limited number of things you could do under those circumstances (simple file transfer being the most useful/common). Exactly what do you hope to accomplish by tying the computers together?

I want to reinstall win98 on the thinkpad , from my main computer. My disquette engraver is broken and i cannot make boot disquette, like i do normally,
I don't know if you have better idea, I have a second internet adress too.
On the rear panel of the thinkpad i have located a parallel and serial port.

I don't believe that it's possible to re-install Windows from one computer to another through either the serial or parallel port. Windows 98 is usually installed using an installation program running off of a CDROM. In the case of a 765d, you would need to have a CD-ROM drive in the removable Ultrabay and an external floppy drive connected to a special port on the back.
