The Seletadock III has 3 PCI slots and woundering what kind of graphics card I could get to work for it. Just looking for a better graphics then what my 600X has to display on a external monitor, as it displays only 1024X768 (High)24-bit color. I have the memory maxed on it now to 576MB of RAM.

Over a period of several years, I spent considerable time trying to configure various (used) cards in several different SelectaDock III configurations (including 770Z and 600X machines and running under Win98 through XP). See:

SelectaDock III - Unofficial Graphics Card Compatibility List:

In general, you should try to find a PCI card of a similar era as the latest dates of production for the 600X machines (in around 1999/2000). Voodoo cards are great. Matrox cards were supposed to be great too, but they tend to be better at multi-monitor than at gaming, and I was interested in gaming/DVD/video. Some Nvidia cards worked, but some didn't. And ATI/Radeon cards were lots of trouble.

I still have a Voodoo 5 5500 in my SelectaDock III, though I haven't booted it up in about a year or more. But the Voodoo 5 used to be ultra-rare. Voodoo 3's should be readily available in junk stores or on eBay, and I've used one of those and it worked great:

I used to install a Creative SoundBlaster card in one of the other slots, and then sometimes a USB 2.0 card in the third slot, or else via one of the PCMCIA card slots, which together combined to push a 600X + SelectaDock III up pretty close to its max configuration, I think.

Voodoo 5 PCI are rare and expensive, Amiga users with PCI backplane hacks have been buying them up for years.

There are plenty of cheap ATI 92xx series PCI cards out there, same with Nvidia 5xxx PCI cards.

I found my EasiDock 1000EV and stuck it on the back of the selectadock. it has a Ati card in it that supports up to 1600X1200. I plugs into the PCMCIA port on the dock, plus have a Ethernet port with 2 more USB ports, but may look for a PCI USB 2.0 or if can USB 3.0 card as the both docks are only USB 1.0

I would advise against purchasing these cards to try them out unless you find a record of someone successfully installing them. I unsuccessfully tried both an ATI 9250 and an nVidia 5500 on my SelectaDock III's. If you've already got these cards handy and feel like trying them, then of course go ahead.
